In 1993 I rescued a 3 year old malnourished female shepherd cross from a rather miserable existence and named her Karmah. For three years Karmah suffered from eczema, incontinence, stomach upsets, eye infections, lethargy and various other problems.
In 1996, after several operations and many sizeable vet bills, I researched and developed a maintenance diet that provided Karmah with everything she needed to allow her body to start repairing, healing and maintaining itself. Importantly, the diet contained no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Within 3 weeks there was a noticeable improvement in Karmah's condition. Within 3 months she was completely well. The mixture became a big hit with various friends, family and neighbours who had witnessed Karmah's remarkable improvement. They tried it with their dogs, saw the improvements, told their friends, their friends wanted to try it... and so it began. I called the mixture The Formula™ and began a small business from home making healthy dog food. In 2001 I opened a little shop in St Peters called 'Best Pet' and then in 2005 moved to a larger shop in Royston Park. By 2007 some health issues meant that I could no longer run the shop by myself and I sold it to a very nice and enthusiastic lady who also loved and cared about dogs. Unfortunately, the shop closed down two years later.
So, here we are at the end of 2009 ... and I'm back! New name, new location, but still with the same values and the same healthy food that customers have come to know and rely on :)
I now have 2 Chinese Crested dogs, Madeline, a 3 year old rescue girl who had lost an eye, had bad skin infections and was terrified of the outside world, and Sarge aged 9, a retired Grand Champion show dog who was rehomed with me to live out his retirement being cuddled and spoiled. Both dogs are now happy, healthy and very much loved :)
And that's the short story ... the long one is a real doozy! :) I hope I will see you soon at Fido's Funhouse!

UPDATE Jan 2010 - Nine year old Pepper has joined our little clan. She is a shy older girl who who was looking for a loving home. She has fitted in so well with Sarge and Madeline, they are like three little peas in a pod :)
UPDATE May 2010 - Aaaaand.... we now have Banshee added to our 'Crestie Crew'! She was surrendered as a foster but unfortunately the poor little girl has some fear issues and she bites, pees, thrashes or screams (sometimes all 4 at once!) when she's scared, which happens to be almost every time she meets a new person. Because she needs a fair bit of rehab, she can't be re-homed in the near future. Our vet has recently diagnosed Bansee with chronic pancreatitis. No matter, we've all fallen in love with her, and she's staying with us as long as needed! :)
